What to See & Do
1601 Irving Street. Historic 1928 theater and one of Rahway’s defining downtown landmarks.
360 Hamilton Street. Intimate modern performance venue.
1632 St. Georges Avenue. Historic tavern and stagecoach stop in a rare surviving early public-house building.
261 Central Avenue. Local history and cultural-learning site.
Union County parkland with sports facilities, track, picnic areas, tennis and green space along the river.
Main Street, Irving Street, Cherry Street and Train Station Plaza combine restaurants, galleries, public art and performance venues in a compact area.
Getting Around
Rahway Station serves the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines, providing connections toward Newark/New York, Trenton and Jersey Shore destinations.
The station and downtown are close enough that many restaurants, UCPAC and the Watt Hotel are walkable from the platforms.
Routes 1 & 9 are the city’s main highway corridor, with the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike nearby. Downtown uses modern pay stations for on-street parking; NJ Transit also lists station parking facilities including the Lewis Street deck.

A Simple Rahway Day
Morning: Coffee or breakfast downtown, then walk the station-area streets and arts district.
Afternoon: Visit Rahway River Park or tour a historic site such as Merchants & Drovers Tavern when open.
Evening: Dinner on Main/Irving/Cherry followed by a performance at UCPAC or Hamilton Stage.
